    Haha, Adobe are hilarious.

I can imagine them releasing a “Feel Sorry For Us” application.

  2. Brennan

    April 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Yeah Luke, they would release “Feel Sorry For Us CS5” and nag-update that every month like Reader.

Hah perfect Brad, I love the subtleties in this one.  You amaze me!  Do you have anything cool you could put in the 100 gift bags for WMC?  Email me and let’s talk about something people will get a kick out of!

I’m constantly surprised at how many people are taking Adobe’s side in the Flash on the iPad/iPhone thing.

I’m glad there’s finally a company pushing for ratified web standards over a de facto proprietary technology.

And I’m still using CS1 because, face it, what’s the point in upgrading? They don’t optimize their software for the Mac OS anymore, and apparently CS1 users don’t get the $500 upgrade price.

    April 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Hilarious! Spreading the link on Twitter. :D

And Boab is absolutely correct! After Effects has been ~10x faster in Windows because Adobe won’t optimise it for Mac… they’ve had, what, 8 years to migrate to Cocoa (and released how many paid upgrades?)... they broke their own UI with animations that can completely stall an 8 core Xeon… etc. The list is endless.

And to think, in ye olden times, Adobe products were optimized to work best on Macs. What changed? Why the tough love?

Love it! Sorry Jobs scooped you, but glad you published this.  Adobe needs to get a grip.

Adobe really pulled away from the Mac-centric love affair when Apple started to collapse without Steve Jobs… Since he came back though, Apple’s been picking up steam consistently and while Adobe have been in a Windows-centric Mac-also workflow, Apple have become a force that you don’t want to ignore… their attitude to the Mac has gone downhill and now they are paying the karmic price. Although, I don’t think this is Apple’s reasoning for it. I think Jobso’s letter pretty much sums it up.

Way to parrot the adobe fanboi line. While apple may like their closed, proprietary technology (of which I’m a proud booster), their work in web standards has been exemplary. WebKit and its support of web standards is just one example. Making the Mac ands it children (ipad, iphone, itouch) first class web citizens has been a priority for them and I for one applaud them for their efforts. I will not miss adobe when its gone (notice I didn’t just say flash). I’ve been frustrated for years over their treatment of mac users as 2nd class citizens so I say good riddance to bad rubbish.

  17. Ben Bodien

    April 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm

    Brilliant!

Why not also show them redesigning their logo on the pedestal every year, as per the continuous Creative Suite rebrands.

    April 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm

“I’m glad there’s finally a company pushing for ratified web standards over a de facto proprietary technology.”

Are you serious?!?! Apple’s entire business model is built on a fiendish devotion to closed, proprietary technology. The only reason they seem to be supporting open standards on the web is it makes them money. Flash doesn’t. Which is fine, it’d just be nice if they were more honest about it.

Yes, and I’ve been hating Adobe when there was still a Macromedia to hate as well, they were my #1 and #2 hates, they even relegated MSFT to #3

Hate all these upgrades that is not backwards compatible, I get CS5 files now and I am so not paying for another upgrade even I love Flash more than anything else on my computer. I ask for CS4 or else sorry.

You left out the part where Adobe relegated modification of animated gifs to Fireworks, instead of making it a fully integrated part of Photoshop. Evil Bastards!

Hm, it’s not just Macs they hate.  I use zero Adobe products, and it’s pretty much because they hateses the Linux, hateses them!

O rly? Then what are Photoshop & Illustrator doin’ makin’ icons and controlz in ur iPhone Appz?

Tanja - “I love Adobe for ignoring Apple, let them rant in their super cool stylish fashion with products that break after a year”

Funny, my first Mac has been running since 2005 with no issues or problems.  My second runs Windows natively and lets me enjoy the best of both worlds.  Use what you enjoy and that works for you but don’t think you are better than anyone just because you prefer something over another.

I’ve used Microsoft based computers for 20 years and Macs for 5 and I have enjoyed both.  The Mac user vs PC user shtick is getting old.  No strike that, it got old about a decade ago.

    Adobe > Apple

Apple are bigger whores than Adobe could ever be, talk about bringing out better models of iPhones that arn’t actually better, oh look the iFail 4!

Next monthe the iPhone 4 Type R will be out and will have 10seconds longer battery life and be 0.001mm thinner.

And then in 3months time the iPhone 4 Type RR will be out boasting a whole 0.1 megapixel better camera with a whole 5minutes longer talk time.

Talk about being on the apple bandwagon.
